October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It's also the month, in 2022, that I had a weird cyst in my armpit that didn't go away. If you've followed me on LinkedIn for a while, you'll know what happened next. That cyst ended up being no more than a regular skin cyst... after all, most lumps/bumps in breast tissue end up being completely harmless. However, the subsequent tests I had as a result of that cyst detected a stage 2 cancer, deep within my right breast.

If I hadn't had that cyst checked, if they hadn't been thorough and given me a mammogram, I'd still be sitting here now with cancer unknowingly growing in my body. And the outcome would certainly not have been as positive as it has been.

Not every change in breast tissue indicates cancer, but getting every change checked COULD save your life, just like it saved mine.

Predictably, I will be sharing a LOT of content about breast cancer this month. If you'd like to stay posted, click on the image of the bell on my LinkedIn profile. And if you don't, still remember to check your breasts!
