Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2020

I respect the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and this policy explains how I collect and treat any information you give me. You won’t find any complicated legal terms or long passages of unreadable text – mainly because I wouldn’t understand them myself! I am a creative writer, not a legal professional! So. here’s my business privacy policy so that you know what to expect when you give me your information.

I value your privacy

I value your privacy as much as I do my own, so I’m committed to keeping your personal and business information safe. I’m uncomfortable with the information companies, governments, and other organisations keep on file, so I ask for only the bare minimum from my clients. The only time I might ask for something more personal – such as your favourite type of chocolate or alcoholic drink, is if I’m going to perform a random act of kindness! I’ll never use your personal information for any reason other than why you gave it or only to surprise you with something nice. I’ll never give anyone access to it unless forced to by law and I’ll only ever share it if you give me permission to (such as hooking you up with a different professional from my F.F.C if you would prefer for them to contact you first).

How I collect your information

I ask for contact information including your name, email address, business name and phone number on my website, so that I can get back to you about your enquiry.

My website will automatically record your browsing habits so that I know which bits you like, and which bits you might find boring or unhelpful. This helps me to know how I can improve my website and the way you experience it. I’ll be interested to see is many of you actually read this bit at all! I’m not sure I have ever read a privacy policy before now….

If I ever get around to creating a newsletter, I will only ever use your email address to send it to you if you specifically sign up for it. I won’t bombard you with spam, tinned or otherwise!

Cookies

Apparently nearly every website automatically uses cookies, and not the tasty, chocolatey sort either. This site does too. It may use cookies to remember you, but I promise it won’t leave crumbs all over your keyboard.

Your information

·       When you contact me by email or through my website, I’ll collect your name, email address, phone number, a social media username if appropriate, and the company you work for and their website address – basically anything useful that you share with me that will help me to help you with your business.

·       Newsletter sign-ups will only ever require an email address.

·       If you work with me, I will also collect your business name and address, and keep records of the invoices I send you and the payments you make.

Where I store your information

Most of the information that I hold about your business isn’t stored online. I’m pretty traditional and prefer an old-fashioned pink Filofax which is locked firmly in my desk drawer. The only information that I will store online is a record of your invoices and payments, which is kept on a private, password-protected iMac and not uploaded to the big fluffy thing in the sky. I am the only person that has access to this information and I intend on keeping it this way. Promise.

What I’ll use your information for

I may occasionally use your contact information to send you details of my services. If I do, you have the option to tell me not to and I won’t send them to you again. I will use your information to send you invoices, statements, or reminders. You may, from time to time, also receive Christmas cards and other nice, friendly communications of the non-stalker variety!
